Grand Prize Winner Receives All-Expense Paid Trip to Hollywood To Attend the “American Idol” Finale and Results Show
LOS ANGELES, March 19, 2008 – “I’m going to Hollywood!” – That four-word sentence is a dream come true for the hundreds of thousands of contestants that audition for 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia’s mega-hit series, “American Idol.” Now Kabillion (www.Kabillion.com), the multi-platform kids’ entertainment program service, will make that dream come true (minus the singing) for one lucky youngster, beginning March 19.
Kabillion’s “American Idol Ticket Giveaway” will award an all-expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles to one of their registered kid users, or “Kabillionaires” – along with a parent – to attend the finale and results show of this season’s “American Idol,” to be held May 21-22 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. In a unique twist, the only contestants eligible for the Grand Prize are kids ages 7- 17. Kabillion will also award four second prizes, consisting of two tickets each to the previous week’s show featuring the final three contestants.
To enter the sweepstakes, kids need to be registered users of Kabillion and create their own avatar at www.Kabillion.com/idol. The entire Kabillion community will then get to vote on their favorite avatars between March 19 and April 29. Each vote which is cast counts as an entry in the contest, as does each vote received for your particular avatar. Kabillionaires will get up to 10 votes daily which they can use to choose the best avatars. The Grand Prize winner and four second prize winners will be chosen at random on April 30. Everything about the contest and Kabillion is completely free of charge.
“The 17 and under audience are certainly among the most fervent followers of the show,” explains Simon Fuller, creator of “American Idol” and CEO of 19 Entertainment. “It’s wonderful that Kabillion has found a way to tap into that enthusiasm for the show by creating a unique contest guaranteed to award one of our young fans this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the ‘American Idol’ finale and results show live.”
“Nothing can bring families and friends together around their televisions like ‘American Idol,’” says Bill Schultz, CEO of Kabillion. “We share 19 Entertainment’s desire to create entertainment which parents and kids can enjoy equally and we’re thrilled that they’ve allowed us to create an entirely kid-centric sweepstakes that encourages kids to be both creative and active.”
Kabillion, which officially launched on January 16, 2007, offers high-quality animated and live-action kids’ series entertainment, games, music and chat and is available both as a free video on-demand (VOD) channel and a free online broadband site (www.Kabillion.com). Ad-supported and completely free to its users, Kabillion also boasts a fully-vetted COPPA and CARU-compliant environment, offering parents peace of mind.
“American Idol,” the number one show on television, is now in its seventh season on the FOX network. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the hit series empowers viewers to discover America’s next solo singing superstar by voting for their favorites to win the coveted American Idol title.
“American Idol” is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder and CEO of 19 Entertainment; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.; Nigel Lythgoe, President, 19 Television; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.
