Akamai Technologies, Inc. The Ministry of Interior used Akamai’s services to deliver up-to-the-minute election coverage to a record-breaking Internet audience.
The Ministry of Interior experienced a 10 fold increase in the amount of traffic to its website with peaks in excess of 700 megabits per second and the highest peak of 724 megabits per second on March 9th at 10:25 pm. Thanks to Akamai’s Dynamic Site Accelerator solution, visitors to the Ministry’s website experienced significantly faster website performance.
“Governments are increasingly using the Internet to enhance the flow of information and services to their citizens. One of the challenges they face is making sure that these services are delivered in a quick and reliable manner, especially when millions of visitors are expected to visit these portals and online websites simultaneously. Our role in helping the Spanish public organisms to deliver the results of their latest elections online further shows the strength of our global platform in supporting such e-Government initiatives,” said Henri d’Oriola, Regional Sales Manager, Akamai Technologies Southern Europe.
