After a year of putting pieces together, Lauricella Land Company wants Greater New Orleans to know what it is going to take to turn Colonial around

Lauricella Land Company, www.lauricellaland.com a full-service real estate firm with over seventy five years of developing, owning, and managing commercial and residential real estate in New Orleans and the Gulf South region, has taken the next step in creating a plan to revitalize the existing 90 acre Colonial Golf and Country Club.

In January 2007, Lauricella Land agreed to lend Colonial $4.4 million in order to reconcile its debts. After a year of project evaluation at the local, state and regional levels, Lauricella Land will soon make public the details of their redevelopment plan for Colonial. “We know what Colonial, especially its green space, means to the residents of Harahan, and we take our responsibility very seriously,” stated Louis Lauricella, Director of Development for Lauricella Land. “When we were approached by Colonial in 2006, we told them that we would uncover every stone and explore every opportunity to make this project a success.” Lauricella Land has assembled professionals from all over the country that have deep experience with high quality developments. “We spent considerable time putting together our team, especially as it relates to the golf component,” said Lauricella.

Colonial’s Board of Directors conducted extensive inquiries of development professionals in Greater New Orleans. “We knew this task would be a process, but we were immediately comfortable with Lauricella Land. We looked at their body of work, and knew something positive would surface,” stated George Custer, Colonial’s past president. “The Board Members were well aware of Lauricella’s roots in the community and their reputation for quality and integrity. We knew a project like this would need a company with their credibility, horsepower and experience,” claimed Custer.

In the past year, Lauricella Land has been repeatedly asked to detail their plans for Colonial. The assumptions started and rumors circulated, but Lauricella Land has been consistent and patient. “Being from the area, we knew this project would resurrect a lot of emotions. From day one we told the media, the members of Colonial and Harahan government officials, that we would make an announcement when we were comfortable setting a cornerstone for this project,” emphasized Louis Lauricella.

Lauricella Land will unveil the status of the redevelopment at the 2008 Zurich Classic www.zurichgolfclassic.com, March 24 through March 30 at TPC Louisiana, a golf tournament that generates $25 million annually for the local economy. “We felt like this was the perfect venue to detail our plans for Colonial,” stated Lauricella. The Zurich Classic raises more than $5 million to help local children in need through the Fore!Kids Foundation www.forekidsfoundation.com. The understanding of giving back to Greater New Orleans has been the key element in the evolution of the Lauricella Land Company and its Lauricella Land Foundation. The Lauricella Land Company is fortunate to be involved with projects like Colonial where they can utilize other connectors with the same passion.
