Vizada, the world’s leading provider of global satellite communications solutions with more market share on more satellite networks than any other provider, has been named 2007 Best Service Provider by Thuraya.
The award was given at the annual service provider forum held in Dubai this week, gathering Thuraya’s 120+ distributors. It was based on significant and continual increase throughout 2007 of Thuraya subscribers as well as increase in airtime and market penetration for all Thuraya products (handsets and terminals). Vizada is a key partner to Thuraya, winning performance-based awards for seven years running.
In 2007 Vizada also further developed the NGO (non-governmental organization) and media markets, providing Thuraya services to key customers from these segments. In addition, Vizada has made a priority of pre-selling Thuraya products and services in Asia-Pacific in anticipation of the expected commercial launch in this region in the coming weeks. This follows the successful launch of the third Thuraya satellite in January.
Vizada and Thuraya are currently preparing the launch of ThurayaIP, a high-speed data service providing up to 444 kbps bandwidth to meet the requirements of users operating in remote areas, with coverage in 130+ countries worldwide. In H2 2008 the two partners also plan to boost growth on the maritime market with the launch of the Thuraya Maritime service delivering cost-effective voice and data on board ship.
“This important milestone demonstrates our dedication to our key satellite operator partners by providing our customers with the most choice in the market in terms of satellite communications solutions,” Jeroen Jaspers, Product Director Handheld Services, Vizada EMEA & Asia. “With long-term experience marketing Thuraya services around the world, we are in the best position to accompany Thuraya throughout 2008.”
