Fast-loading distributed database processes hundreds of thousand events per second – billions per day – to meet needs of largest enterprises

OpenService, a leader in Enterprise Event and Log Management, today announced radical performance and analytical gains with version 5.0 of the company’s InfoCenter open-architecture product suite. Combining the processing power of new, columnar database algorithms with a distributed architecture, OpenService now matches or exceeds the event capture and processing rates of closed, proprietary appliances.

“OpenService eliminates the trade-off between performance/scalability and an open architecture,” said Mike Schmitt, OpenService President and CEO. “By processing hundreds of thousands of events per second and billions per day in an environment supporting industry and enterprise standards, we enable the world’s largest enterprises to effectively secure and manage their networks using their choice of tools. That reduces risk to the availability of key business services and enhances business agility.” InfoCenter 5.0 deploys on standard servers, stores data on standard SANs using a standard database schema, and uses standard SSL communications among its distributed components.

“Our commitment to openness helps IT leaders advance their initiatives to simplify their infrastructures to increase reliability, availability, and business responsiveness,” Schmitt said. “With our latest advances, now large enterprises can gain the benefits of industry standards plus the performance and scalability equal to or better than closed, proprietary systems.”

Additional capabilities which make InfoCenter 5.0 a major step forward in event and log management include:
Support for new correlation algorithms that scan for a wider array of vulnerabilities
New automated event parsing techniques that simplify integrating log data from every type of device, including those which use arcane proprietary formats
A new browser-based user interface that leverages Ajax technology to provide a rich user experience with fast response times.
Tighter integration of NerveCenter, ThreatCenter, and LogCenter which simplifies setting and monitoring security and network management polices through the InfoCenter console

“Our combination of performance/scalability, open architecture, and use of standards is also well-suited for mid-size companies facing stringent compliance requirements,” Schmitt added. “Everyone wants to minimize capital and operational expenditures, and our architecture and event analysis capabilities enables us to offer the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry.”

InfoCenter 5.0 will be available April 14 and demonstrated in OpenService’s booth 324 at RSA Conference 2008 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco April 7-11.
