Kodak and 3dMDvultus Team Up to Provide Fast, Precise 3D Surface Imaging and Analysis

Orthodontic and oral and maxillofacial surgery professionals can now obtain highly precise, ultra-fast 3D surface images of patients, and analyze treatment outcomes in a digital 3D environment, as a result of a new alliance between Kodak and 3dMDvultus.

Through an exclusive distribution agreement, Kodak will become the distributor of 3dMD’s imaging systems, related hardware for 3D surface imaging, and 3D analysis software in the United States. Orthodontists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons can utilize 3D CBCT and CBVT radiography systems, along with 3dMD’s extraoral photography system, to mathematically register surface tissue and hard tissue for analysis purposes. In the future, the parties anticipate that dental specialists will be able to utilize this functionality from within KODAK Orthodontic and OMS Imaging Software, enhancing practitioners’ imaging capabilities while streamlining office processes and communication.

3D Imaging in Milliseconds
The 3dMDface System features sophisticated imaging functionality. It captures highly precise 3D surface images in approximately 1.5 milliseconds. The images can then be matched with 3D radiographs to generate composite 3D images for pre-treatment planning, outcome assessment, statistical and normative analysis, and research quantification. As 3dMD’s imaging technique is non-invasive, a 3D image of the patient can be easily captured on every visit, enabling dental specialists to monitor progress and modify treatment plans if necessary.
