“Collector Cars Represent Excellent Variety and Something for Everyone”
MECUM Auction’s new TV series is a huge success by all measures. In the first two weeks of the MECUM Auto Auction: Muscle Cars and More! live show, more than $3m worth of muscle, Corvette and other classic cars have found new owners from coast-to-coast. Many have come to bid in person during the auctions. Others have purchased cars remotely through telephone and Internet bids which are an integral part of the auction process allowing people to participate from around the world. The show airs live from the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Saturday evenings in HD TV on Discovery’s new HD Theater channel.
Auction founder Dana Mecum comments, “If bidding during the live auction doesn’t meet the sellers’ expectations, we continue to work hard after the auction to make the sale happen. We offer a program called The Bid Goes On to assure our sellers get maximum dollar value for their collector car.” Over 150,000 people were drawn to the auction website www.MECUMauction.com this past weekend where visitors can view cars still on offer, buy a car and sign up to bid at the next auction.
“This is a fun auction for both buyers and sellers to participate in and anyone can sign up at our website to bid at one of our live auctions,” notes Mecum. The Saturday evening live auctions have offered a variety of cars ranging from Saturday’s high sale of $233,625.00 for a 1963 Z06 Corvette to quality muscle cars in the mid $20,000.00 range. “There is truly something for everyone at this auction from cars a buyer might keep as part of an investment collection to cars you can take to the roads and bring to the occasional car show,” notes John Kramer, MECUM Auction Sales Manager.
