Quantros Disruptive Event Manager Supports Existing and Upcoming Regulations Ensuring Confidentiality of Code of Conduct Violations
Quantros, a leading provider of real-time quality, safety and risk management, and accreditation and compliance software solutions for the healthcare industry, today released Quantros Disruptive Event Manager (DEM) as a standalone or an optional, complementary module within its Safety and Risk Management (SRM) Suite of Solutions. This application enables real-time monitoring, tracking and workflow management of vital data associated with undesirable and detrimental professional conduct. Ensuring the appropriate data is identified, gathered and analyzed has been proven critical to enacting improvements.
Long recognized as compromising a safe, high quality healthcare environment, aberrant professional conduct which compromise patient safety will become a key focus of organizations such as The Joint Commission (TJC) beginning in 2009. There is complete alignment on the gravity and impact of these issues from TJC, AMA, CMS, state licensing bodies and state medical boards. Developing and enforcing a strict “Code of Conduct” is of paramount importance in safety and quality improvement efforts. These new initiatives and guidelines apply not only within the hospital setting but span across the entire spectrum of care types including long-term care and physician office environments.
To date professional conduct issues have been managed manually or as part of an electronic complaints system. However, a general lack of availability of this confidential information to broader audiences as well as a workflow solution to expedite tracking and resolution of such events led Quantros to develop this new offering. DEM resides on a proven data infrastructure and application framework used by more than 1,500 hospitals throughout the United States thereby ensuring secure management of disruptive events using the processes healthcare providers already have in place.
“Quantros DEM will allow users to capture and manage disruptive events while maintaining discretion and ensuring the protection of all parties involved,” said Ali Rashidee, MD, director of Product Management at Quantros. “By leveraging the power of this new application healthcare providers can identify and isolate disruptive behavior types of events. This ensures a safer environment for patients, employees and visitors while promoting a professional code of conduct in the organization.”
Quantros Disruptive Event Manager Overview
Quantros Disruptive Event Manager (DEM) allows users to:
Log disruptive events and assign the appropriate managers to address the issue
Schedule and track follow-up tasks
Document actions and resolutions
Generate reports in real-time for analyzing issues and trends.
DEM is designed so that all of these activities can be performed while providing strict rules for user access to ensure confidentiality. The application can also be used as a component of peer review and credentialing activities where appropriate. As with all Quantros applications, DEM is made available as a ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) application that can be quickly implemented without significant IT capital or resource expenditures.
