The Weather Channel Joins Earth Day Network and Green Apple Festival’s DC Celebration at National Mall

WHAT: The Weather Channel (TWC) will be shooting live from the Green Apple Festival at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Sunday. Produced by Peter Shapiro in partnership with Earth Day Network, this event brings together live music and environmental awareness and is billed as “America’s largest Earth Day celebration.” With involvement from environmental leaders, community activists, A-list talent and huge crowds, it will be one of the largest Earth Day gatherings in U.S. history.

The Weather Channel will be live from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. ET

WHERE: The National Mall, Washington, D.C.

PROFILES: The Weather Channel plans to capture the following:
– The free bike valet offered by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association
– Representatives from nonprofit groups like the president of Earth Day Network, the organization created by Earth Day founders in 1970; and the founder of the Cool Globes art exhibit.
– Celebrities such as actor Edward Norton and comedian Chevy Chase
– Large corporate action such as IBM’s new 3-D online game to help save the planet, FedEx’s hybrid delivery trucks, and the rise of Zipcar.
– Smaller companies doing their part like Head Count, a voter advocacy group, and Solar Panels Plus
– NASA climatologist and Columbia University professor Dr. James Hansen
– Local and national politicians and governmental organization leaders
– Musicians working to “go green” while on tour
