Opera Mobile is the default browser on Sony Ericsson’s M600 3G phone

Opera Software today announced that Sony Ericsson’s new 3G smartphone, the M600, will ship with Opera Mobile as its default browser. Based on the Opera-enhanced UIQ 3.x platform, the M600 is an advanced e-mailing and Web browsing phone that takes full advantage of Opera’s speed and unique rendering capabilities. It is the second UIQ 3.x phone announced with the integrated Opera browser.

Designed for optimal connectivity, the M600 with the Opera Mobile browser features a range of security enhancements. McAfee’s anti-virus and firewall software for cellular applications and Pointsec encryption are offered as Try & Buy packages, and Certicom VPN client for secure access to corporate networks is offered free of charge.

“Focusing on efficient, safe e-mail and Web connectivity on the new M600, Sony Ericsson is sending out a clear message that mobile Web access is maturing and becoming increasingly important,” says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “We are pleased to see that the Opera browser was once again selected by Sony Ericsson to deliver fast and full Internet access on their mobile phones.”
