Answers Corporation today announced that Answers.com has been named a 2008 Webware 100 Award Winner (http://www.webware.com/8301-13546_109-9913318-29.html), placing it among the 100 best Web 2.0 sites, services and applications that are leading the next wave of innovation on the web. Winners were selected by an online Webware reader poll that drew more than 1.9 million votes. Answers Corporation will receive its award at the Web 2.0 Expo this week at the Moscone Center in San Francisco (http://www.web2expo.com/).

Since its launch in January 2005, Answers.com has become one of the leading information portals on the Internet, delivering comprehensive content on over five million topics in dozens of categories. In the past year, Answers.com has also incorporated relevant community-generated questions and answers found at its sister site WikiAnswers.com, a social knowledge Q&A platform. Through the contributions of WikiAnswers’ growing community and dedicated supervisors, its almost 2.5 million questions represent the dynamic and growing collective wisdom of its members.

“We’re thrilled to have the endorsement from Webware editors and readers again this year,” said Bob Rosenschein, CEO of Answers Corp. “We have been particularly excited to realize that the social knowledge Q&A offered by the WikiAnswers community has made Answers.com an even more compelling internet resource.”

“Webware.com created the Webware 100 Awards to help consumers weed through the vast amount of Web 2.0 websites available and find the best ones they trust to meet their needs,” commented CNet Editor Rafe Needleman. “These winning 100 products represent the best of the Web, according the people who use it.”
