Showcasing 10GBASE-T for Real-World Environments at Booth #2459 and with Citrix, the Ethernet Alliance, Ixia, PANDUIT, SMC and VMware
Interop Las Vegas 2008
Solarflare Communications, the leader in standards-compliant 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) silicon, will demonstrate the latest in high-performance 10GBASE-T technology optimized for the most advanced networking applications at Interop Las Vegas, April 27 – May 2, 2008, in booth #2459. Solarflare will also be present in industry-partner booths Citrix, the Ethernet Alliance, Ixia, PANDUIT, SMC and VMware.
With the industry’s first public demo of Microsoft’s Hyper V virtual OS and support for both VMware ESX and Citrix XenEnterprise virtualization platforms, Solarflare is the first company to support all three of the major virtual operating systems. Solarflare’s 10GBASE-T demonstrations prove enterprises and data centers can easily upgrade to 10 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) over their existing infrastructures and deliver on ever-increasing business bandwidth demands, especially in a virtualized environment. Working with key industry partners, Solarflare is proving that 10G networking is ready for implementation and deployment.
“Enterprises and data centers are in need of cost-effective solutions that provide high-performance services,” said Bruce Tolley, vice president of marketing at Solarflare. “With our partners we are demonstrating virtualization acceleration at line rate to support iSCSI storage and other bandwidth intensive applications such as video capture and playback. These product demonstrations show that our optimized 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology delivers true performance for real-world environments, all over 10GBASE-T.”
Solarflare Demo Locations and Descriptions
Interop attendees can pick up a Passport card at any of the locations below and enter to win an iPod with five out of eight Solarflare-based demo or technology showcase visits.
Solarflare (#2459)
Solarflare is showcasing network acceleration and line-rate performance in a virtualized server environment using the Solarstorm™ SFC4000E vNIC Controller. Solarflare is also demonstrating the 10Xpress® SFX7101 PHY operating over standards compliant links in a worst-case channel environment. Configurations include 6 around 1 in the presence of alien noise, a 4 connector configuration, as well as running over multiple categories of Ethernet cable such as Category 6A, Category 6, Category 5e and Category 5.
Citrix / Xen (#2042)
Demos on Solarflare-based technology optimized for the Citrix XenEnterprise virtualization platform will be shown in the PANDUIT, SMC and Solarflare booths.
Ethernet Alliance (#1567)
Solarflare is participating in a multi-vendor 10GBASE-T interoperability event hosted at the Ethernet Alliance booth. The 10GBASE-T pod will have 10 Gigabit Ethernet over 100 meters on copper cabling as specified by the Ethernet and cabling standards with a live traffic interoperability demonstration among servers with network adapters, switches and test equipment systems.
Ixia Booth (#2011)
Ixia has the 10GBASE-T-ADAP-01 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Module, 10GBASE-T for 944-0022 (LSM10G1-01) and 944-0024 (LSM10GL1-01) load modules all based on Solarflare technology.
PANDUIT (#2419)
PANDUIT is featuring 10GBASE-T switch and NIC solutions from Solarflare running over standard cable configurations with typical operating conditions though a unique capture and play back of video data in a Citrix XenEnterprise virtualized server environment.
SMC Networks (#1083)
SMC Networks is showcasing virtualization and storage convergence with Solarflare’s 10GBASE-T technology using Citrix XenEnterprise, iSCSI storage, Microsoft’s Hyper-V and VMware’s ESX server.
VMware Partner Pavilion (#826, pod 8)
Solarflare’s demonstration at the VMware Partner Pavilion will highlight advanced capabilities of the Solarflare Solarstorm™ SFC4000E vNIC Controller. Remote management of servers running in the SMC booth will be featured by moving virtual machines from one physical server to another using ESX VMotion running live over a 10 Gb/s Ethernet infrastructure.
About Solarflare® 10 Gigabit Products
Solarflare is the first to deliver both 10 Gigabit Ethernet controller and 10GBASE-T PHY technology. The Solarstorm™ Ethernet controller delivers the optimal balance of performance, power and price. Solarflare’s 10Xpress® 10GBASE-T PHY supports distances of greater than 100 meters on UTP Category 6A cabling, 100 meters on STP Category 6, 55 meters on UTP Category 6, and 45 meters on UTP Category 5E cabling. The combination of Solarstorm 10GbE controller and 10Xpress 10GBASE-T PHY enables NIC and server OEM customers to bring 10G server adapters to market at about the same cost as quad 1G server adapters—driving the widespread implementation of 10GbE in data centers and enterprise networks.
