WHAT: Fox Sports en Espanol has acquired programming of one of the most popular and successful soccer clubs in the world–Futbol Club (FC) Barcelona. Also known as Barca to its multitude of loyal fans in Spain, around the world, and here in the United States, this team has appeared every year in European competitions since their start, and has never been relegated from the top division. Barca TV showcases FC Barcelona’s historic and unforgettable moments from the past to the present. Over the years, Barca has attracted some of the best soccer players in the world, such as Diego Maradona (ARG), Ronaldo (BRA), Ronaldinho (BRA) and Lionel Messi (ARG).

The acquisition will feature classic matches between Barca and top rivals Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, RCD Espanyol and Valencia. Barca TV will also include the current matches of La Liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey and international friendlies.

WHO: Fox Sports en Espanol will present archive matches from the 1970’s through the present season, across their media platform to integrate the programming into mobile and internet capabilities.

Fridays from 5:30pm ET to 10:00pm ET1, launching tonight, Friday, April 25th, 2008

HOW: Barca TV programming will include:

Archive match featuring FC Barcelona. 52 weeks per year in English and Spanish with commentary provided.

Current matches of La Liga, Champions League, and Copa del Rey matches as well as other friendlies in English and Spanish.

Twice weekly 30 minute news program, 52 weeks per year in Spanish, including footage from ‘Replay,’ the weekly highlight which features the “Best of the Best” moments from the most recent La Liga match. The action on the field is supplemented with exclusive player interviews, coach commentary and post-commentary match, all in Spanish.
