IntelliVid Announces Latest Video Intelligence Innovation – Intelligent-PTZ

IntelliVid, the leading provider of video analytics and video management software for retailers, today announced the initial introduction of an exciting video intelligence innovation: intelligent-PTZ (i-PTZ) software. Using IntelliVid’s software and standard fixed IP or analog cameras, retailers, banks and other general security users of CCTV systems are able to pan, tilt and zoom on images, without the expense and issues associated with traditional mechanical PTZs. The i-PTZ software will be on display at IntelliVid’s booth at the RILA Loss Prevention conference, April 30-May 1st in Dallas, TX.

IntelliVid’s i-PTZ software gives users the ability to pan, tilt or zoom on live or recorded video from analog or mega-pixel IP cameras. At the same time, i-PTZ users also benefit from IntelliVid’s best-in-class video analytics. “We developed i-PTZ to address two challenges expressed by our customers: one, to reduce CCTV installation and operating costs while improving camera coverage, and, two, to allow them, on the same camera, to both pan-tilt-zoom and use our patented video analytics, such as intelligent alerts, Computer-Aided-Tracking and intelligent POS filtering,” explained Warren Brown, Director of Product Marketing for IntelliVid.

The i-PTZ software, combined with standard mega-pixel IP cameras or encoders, will allow retail, banking and general security installations to cover greater floor space with fewer cameras and, because the cameras are solid-state, minimize the breakdowns and maintenance expense typically associated with mechanical PTZs. “Beyond the lower total-cost-of-operation, i-PTZ opens up new possibilities for our customers, like watching multiple views from the same camera at the same time or panning and zooming on recorded video,” described Mr Brown. “Two major retail customers will be installing the software in the coming months, full commercial launch is expected in the Fall.”

“While we have clearly seen the interest for i-PTZ among big-box, department store and other large format retailers,” explained Mr Sobalvarro, “we also expect i-PTZ to help us better serve the needs of non-retail customers in banking or general security.”
