Seagate Technology’s Jim Chirico and Bob Whitmore Named Executive Vice Presidents
Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX) today announced it has named Jim Chirico and Bob Whitmore to the positions of executive vice president, Global Disc Storage Operations and executive vice president, Product and Process Development, respectively. Both Chirico and Whitmore will continue reporting to Dave Wickersham, chief operating officer.
“Today’s announcement acknowledges the tremendous contribution these two executives have made in establishing Seagate as the world’s disc drive leader,” said Wickersham. “The organizations under their direction are responsible for delivering both product leadership and the broadest product portfolio in the industry, and for delivering world-class manufacturing efficiency and flexibility. I have unwavering confidence in their leadership and ability to continue to succeed in their new roles.”
A 25-year industry veteran, Chirico was formerly senior vice president of Seagate’s drive operations in Asia, which included facilities in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. In his new role his responsibilities will expand to include all of Seagate’s global operations, including materials, supply chain management, component manufacturing and final drive assembly. Chirico came to Seagate in 1998 as senior vice president for Worldwide Manufacturing Quality, following 17 years at IBM where he held a number of management positions in manufacturing and operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Logistics Management from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island.
