Internet Entrepreneurs Have the Opportunity to Be Spotlighted at Southern California’s Premier Tech Event
Twiistup, Southern California’s signature event connecting professionals from the worlds of technology, media and entertainment, is inviting Southern California based Web start-ups to apply to “show off” at Twiistup’s fourth event, taking place on July 17.
Ten start-up companies will be selected by an executive judging committee to present their products or services to a crowd of more than 600 tech enthusiasts, including press, investors, bloggers, CEOs and other influencers.
“After the massive amount of industry support at the last event we had to increase our capacity, so we chose a classic Santa Monica venue. We’re confident this will be the most influential SoCal tech event ever seen and our Showoffs play a large part in its appeal and success,” said Founder Mike Macadaan.
“Our goal is to build excitement around the region’s emerging tech companies. Showcasing the best of what’s up-and-coming with our Showoffs is central to our mission. Twiistup is proud to have spotted the market potential early on for prior Showoffs such as JibJab, Mint.com and The Rubicon Project,” added Macadaan.
The judging panel includes Web gurus Pete Cashmore of Mashable.com, Frank Addante, CEO of The Rubicon Project, and Krisztina Holly, vice provost for innovation at the University of Southern California (USC) and executive director for the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation. Additional panelists will be announced soon at Twiistup.com.
Companies interested in being considered for one of the 10 featured showoff spots can apply on the Twiistup Web site at www.twiistup.com/showoffs.
Applications will be accepted through May 15. Selected companies will be announced June 2.
Twiistup 4 will be held poolside at the upscale Viceroy in Santa Monica on July 17, 2008. Early bird tickets are on sale now through June 2 at www.twiistup.com/getin.
A limited amount of passes are available for media and bloggers. Media who would like to be considered for a complimentary ticket to the event in July should email a request to twiistup {at} lewispr(.)com.
