Winners Of AMD-Sponsored ‘64 Second Film Contest’ Demonstrate ‘Waitlessness’ Is Possible
AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the three winners in “The 64 Second Film Contest,†a test of creativity and digital media development skill sponsored by AMD. The contest challenged contestants to express the concept of “Waitlessness†in a 64-second short film to help showcase how AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 dual-core processors “shatter the hourglass,†by taking content creation and multimedia performance to a new level. Today’s digital content creators are using AMD Athlon
64 X2 dual-core processors to create more, while spending less time waiting for their computers to render videos and perform other multimedia tasks.
“We were thoroughly impressed by the creativity and talent of the contestants’ submissions in The 64 Second Film Contest,†said Bob Brewer, corporate vice president, Desktop Division, AMD. “The spectrum of entries and the ingenuity they displayed raised the bar for what is possible with today’s multi-core technology.â€
The grand prize went to John Robson of Canoga Park, CA for his film, “At a Glance,†captures the feeling of “Waitlessness†with love at first sight. He will receive a grand prize package that includes an editing studio with furniture and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor-based digital video/audio “Dream System†provided by Voodoo PC, with peripherals. Also included in the system is Nero 7 Ultra Edition, a powerful software suite, offering both the PC and TV media management experience for a complete digital media solution, as well as a Sony® software package including Vegas®, Sound Forge 8 and Acid Pro 5. As part of the package, Robson will also receive an all-expense-paid trip to California, where he will receive a private tour of the DreamWorks Animation studios which includes meeting an animation artist, a special pre-screening (sneak preview) of an upcoming movie, a private screening of his contest submission, and a signed sketch of a DreamWorks character.
