Aepona Appoints New Executives: Continues to Build North American Presence

Denver, Colorado, 8th May 2008 — Aepona, the leading supplier of telecom service layer products and solutions to Telcos globally, today announced the appointment of several new executives, following the announcement of Al Snyder as CEO in March 2008. The new appointments will strengthen the company’s sales and marketing efforts globally, as well as further building its presence in North America.
The new executives are:
• Dave Whalen, Executive Vice President of Global Sales
• Kevin Wagner, Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Business Development
• Mike Mayfield, Senior Vice President of Global Services
Commenting on the appointments, Al Snyder said: “My first priority at Aepona is to build on the company’s momentum and thought leadership in the telecom service layer market and become a fully customer-centric organisation. Our aim is to become a trusted advisor to our core customers, working with them in partnership to solve key business issues and to help them fully exploit the infrastructure investments they have made. In particular we will increase our focus on enabling new applications to help our customers grow their revenues and increase customer loyalty. Dave, Kevin and Mike all have extensive experience in delivering this value to customers and I’m delighted to have them on board”.
All four new executives, including Al Snyder, will be based at Aepona’s recently-opened facility in Denver, Colorado.
Executive Biographies:
Dave Whalen
Dave Whalen brings extensive industry achievements and experience including more than 20 years of executive leadership in international sales, sales operations, and professional services in the communications industry.
Prior to joining Aepona, Dave Whalen was Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Professional Services at Carrier Access (acquired by Turin Networks) where he managed worldwide sales and services for all Carrier Access products and solutions. Before that he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of worldwide sales at Openwave Systems Inc., a provider of open software products and services for the communications industry.
Whalen also held successful sales and executive management roles as corporate vice president of global sales and marketing for Kyocera Wireless, SignalSoft Corporation, Wireless Knowledge, Inc., and Sony Wireless Telecommunications Company, among others.
Kevin Wagner
Kevin Wagner brings more than 15 years of experience in creating strategic partnerships, developing new markets and business, and positioning companies for growth. Mr. Wagner brings a wealth of industry leadership experience, having created and served in leadership positions for a number of industry initiatives and organizations. He will be responsible for developing and growing the company’s partner relationships, creating customer solutions, marketing, and new business development.
Prior to joining Aepona, Kevin held leadership positions with Carrier Access (acquired by Turin Networks), Openwave, Motorola and Cadence Design Systems. Mr. Wagner holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas and received his MBA from University of Dallas, Graduate School of Management.
Mike Mayfield
Mike Mayfield is a results-oriented executive with over 20 years of achievements, spanning all facets of the business value chain. Mr. Mayfield will be focused on jump starting professional services while building out customer-centric, regionalized services & support capabilities, creating a custom development centre, and improving operational efficiencies.
Prior to joining Aepona, Mike held key management positions at Carrier Access (acquired by Turin Networks), Openwave, DEC, Oracle and StorageTek. He holds an M.A. in Management from Webster University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Regis College.
