DSC Provides Bumble Bee Foods With Logistics Management Services

DSC operates customer Bumble Bee’s business out of their Mira Loma, California, Logistics Center

DSC Logistics, an integrated logistics and supply chain management company headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, is providing Bumble Bee Foods, North America’s largest branded seafood company Logistics Management Services out of DSC’s Mira Loma, California, Logistics Center. DSC handles Bumble Bee Foods’ leading brands including Bumble Bee®, Clover Leaf®, Brunswick® and Beach Cliff® and the company’s packaged, ready-to-eat meals.

DSC is providing services such as inventory management on product arriving from Bumble Bee Foods’ plants in California, Georgia, Washington and China, and transportation services, including local truck load and shuttle services. DSC ships Bumble Bee product to retailers including Wal-Mart, Safeway, Sam’s Club and Costco in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Bumble Bee Foods is a participant in DSC’s food and consumer products consolidation program on the west coast, which provides customers a reduction in transportation expense through consolidation with other DSC food industry customers. DSC is working with Bumble Bee to create Bumble Bee’s first Key Performance Indicators for measuring their logistics providers’ performance. Bumble Bee will track cycle counts, processing inbounds and outbounds within a two hour period, case fill rate and EDI performance. DSC is also developing a Lifto-Picking process for Bumble Bee that will ensure the freshest product is being picked for distribution.
