Spire Solar will Showcase its Solar Cell Testing Equipment;

Spire Semiconductor will Present its Custom Concentrator Solar Cell Solutions

Spire Corporation, (Nasdaq: SPIR), a global solar company providing turnkey solar factories and capital equipment to manufacture photovoltaic modules worldwide, today announced it will attend the 33rd IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference from May 11 to May 16, 2008 in San Diego, California. Spire will be located in Booths 216 and 218 at the conference site in the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel.

The Company’s Spire Solar and Spire Semiconductor operations will feature their current portfolio of photovoltaic manufacturing equipment and solar concentrator cell technology. At the conference, Spire will highlight its advanced automation and integration solutions for turnkey solar factories for module and cell production. In addition, Spire will display a new option for their Spi-Cell Tester™, which permits testing of small-area concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) cells at intensities up to 100 suns (100X).

“This is one of the premier world events in the solar power technology sector,” said Spire Corporation’s Chairman and CEO, Roger Little. “The industry’s leading scientists and engineers will gather here to focus on the goal of advancing photovoltaic technologies. We are pleased to showcase our range of solutions for this dynamic market.”

“A number of our existing and potential customers from around the world will be participating in the conference,” said Steve Hogan, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Spire Solar. “This is an excellent venue to present our products and services. Spire offers the broadest range of solutions in photovoltaic manufacturing to both new entrants, as well as manufacturers looking to expand their operations. Getting to the market quickly and efficiently remains critical to success and Spire provides all the fundamental components necessary to succeed in the photovoltaic marketplace.”

Spire Semiconductor will present its capabilities to design and fabricate custom gallium arsenide (GaAs) concentrator solar cells. According to Brad Siskavich, Business Development Manager at Spire Semiconductor, “Our unique blend of CPV cell design experience, along with our high-volume epitaxial growth and cell fabrication capabilities, let Spire Semiconductor help customers rapidly bring their products to market while addressing the industry-wide concern for CPV cell production capacity.”
