Management World 2008
In a move that recognizes Telcordia’s industry leadership, the TM Forum has chosen Telcordia, a global leader in the development of IP, wireline, and mobile telecommunications software and services, to participate in the Management World 2008 Content Encounter Phase II event, which showcases the future of converged communications, information and entertainment services. Part of the Forumville showcase at Management World 2008 – held May 20-22 in Nice, France – Content Encounter Phase II is designed to help the industry development of best practices and standards for the delivery of digital media services.
Digital media gives communication service providers (CSPs) a wide variety of new revenue streams and market-differentiation opportunities, such as building content into service offerings that customers can personalize. Content Encounter is a unique opportunity for CSPs to learn about automating the process of acquiring and delivering content and guaranteeing end-to-end service quality for each subscriber. Championed by AT&T, BT, China Unicom and Chunghwa Telecom, the event also gives CSPs insight into how to monetize these services, including charging advertisers and allowing subscribers to receive sponsored services, while respecting their choice and privacy.
“Monetizing content is a critical issue for many CSPs,” said Grant Lenahan, Vice President of Strategy, Service Delivery Solutions, Telcordia. “Content Encounter directly addresses one of the industry’s biggest issues: the need for processes and standards to enable CSPs to work with the other members of the digital media value chain to deliver content and advertising in practice.”
Content Encounter will feature the Telcordia® Real-Time Charging solution, a flexible online charging and policy-control solution that enables competitive differentiation, new business models and rapid time-to-market for CSPs when deploying mobile, converged and interactive services. Globally deployed by the largest tier-one CSPs and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), Telcordia Real-Time Charging has achieved outstanding price performance, flexibility and scalability from its market introduction in developed and in hyper-growth developing markets.
Content Encounter also will feature the Telcordia® Real-Time Policy solution, which allows CSPs to put the customer at the center of the user experience, creating service environments that are tailored to their individual needs. Specifically designed to support a user-focused interactive services vision, Telcordia Real-Time Policy is ideal for the types of services that are part of the Content Encounter vision.
