Mobile Linux software vendor increases investment in Asia

Chambéry, France – May 22, 2008 – Purple Labs, the leading supplier of Linux for mass-market 3G phones, announced today its further expansion into Asia with the opening of a new sales and support office in Seoul, Korea.

“With both Samsung and LGE participating in the LiMo Foundation, there are now clear market opportunities in Korea for our mobile Linux solutions,” said Gordon Tsang, Purple Labs senior vice president for Asia. “Our investment in a Korean team directly reflects our commitment to serving these important customers.”

Aiming to create a rich mobile ecosystem based on Linux, the LiMo Foundation now has a global roster of members including Samsung, LGE, and Korean network operators KTF and SK Telecom. Earlier this year, Purple Labs became the first LiMo member providing LiMo compliant software for mass-market phones.

Grant Jang has now joined Purple Labs to head up the Korea office, reporting to Tsang. Prior to joining the company, Jang led the Korean office at Openwave Systems, and earlier worked at Giga Telecom and Hyundai Electronics.

Details of the new office location can be found at www.purplelabs.com.
