Renault Selects HP for Global Outsourcing Deal

HP today announced it has been selected by Renault to manage and evolve the leading car manufacturer’s global desktop computing environment over the next five years. The deal, which will support all 87,000 of Renault’s users in 26 countries worldwide,(1) is valued at $150 million.

Through the deal, Renault plans to benefit from the economies of scale delivered by standardized IT environments, including annual cost reductions and improved service levels. Renault also expects to benefit from a collaborative approach to cost, innovation and quality control. Specifically, the deal includes management of Renault’s desktop environment including all PCs, workstations, local and network printers, video conferencing and other equipment.

HP will also provide 24×7 helpdesk and eSupport (online web portal support), asset/license management and mobility solutions enabling access to email and Intranet communications via personal digital assistants. Up to 160 Renault employees are proposed to transfer to HP from a number of worldwide locations.

Additionally, HP will develop an “Expertise Center” for Renault that will advise and support the company in all aspects of its computing solutions going forward. The center, which will operate from a base in France, will focus on the delivery of desktop, hardware, server, mobility solutions and innovations capable of further improving operational efficiency and reducing costs within Renault.

Demonstrating HP’s Adaptive Enterprise strategy to enable customers to synchronize business and IT, this project is aimed at helping Renault’s technology-oriented functions better support the company’s strategy of profitable growth and internationalization.

HP won the competitive bid by proposing a technical solution and services partnership approach that was built upon Renault’s existing investments in standardization.
