Blue Ocean Wireless (”BOW”), an Irish company delivering GSM communication capability for the merchant maritime sector, today announced its new, lower tariff of $0.99.

Blue Ocean subscribers can use their own mobile phones to keep in touch with friends and family around the globe for as little as 99 cent per minute using their own mobile phone while deep sea. Prior to the launch of BOW’s services, officers and crew on deep water vessels had to use crew phones in areas with little privacy, often with a senior officer monitoring their call length. Blue Ocean Wireless’ product allows mariners to use their own mobile phones to make calls and send messages. The increased connectivity and privacy using BOW’s solution makes life at sea considerably more comfortable and at the new price of $0.99 per minute seafarers can stay in touch for longer.

Robert Johnson, BOW CEO, commented “Blue Ocean Wireless has had an extremely positive impact on crew welfare since its launch. Having spent 13 years as a Deck Officer, I can relate to the real need for accessible, reliable and affordable communication while at sea. While it has always been our intention to make this service as affordable as possible, the phenomenal success of our product roll-out has allowed us to offer this price reduction sooner than we had expected”.

Robert continued, “Our new tariff of 99 cent will enable more seafarers to spend longer each month speaking to loved ones at home.”
