An Exclusive Tech Day for Sapient Techies

Bangalore/New Delhi, June 9th, 2008- An integrated, one stop programming interface to develop future applications using Microsoft Technologies, was what Sapient and Microsoft Tech Day was all about. Organized by Sapient, a global services firm operating in Interactive and Consulting space, the exclusive Tech-day was held at Sapient’s Bangalore and Gurgaon offices recently.

The event involved more than 700 Sapient technologists and a group of specialists from Microsoft who delivered sessions about the latest Microsoft technologies. This unique platform gave Sapient people a chance to build their skills, experiment with new technologies with the help of Microsoft tech specialists, and solidify Sapient’s delivery capabilities in Microsoft.

Talking about Microsoft Tech Day Sandeep Dhar, MD Sapient India, said that, “As a technology based services organization, we believe that our people should lead the pack when it comes to technology and hence stay abreast with new technologies. The Tech day is an initiative to provide a platform to our people to get updated as well as dabble around with the latest technologies.”

The concept of Tech Day is not new to Sapient. It was started in 2006 as an annual event focusing on acquainting employees with the latest technologies but this year it is focused on Microsoft’s latest solutions. Designed for the Sapient delivery team, the highlight of this year’s Tech Day was Silverlight, a cross-platform, cross-brouser plug-in that will be used in the forthcoming Olympics website. Other solutions that were a part of this event included MS office Sharepoint server, BizTalk and Net 3.5.

The event consisted of a Hands-on lab as well as a walkthrough seminar which enabled Sapient people to create new programmes, and experiment with an array of technologies. Other components of the event included the ‘Coding Contest- Codeapalooza’ which was held to promote healthy competition amongst the Sapient people. The contest played a dual role of entertainment as well as education. The winner walked away with an Xbox 360!!
