Symantec Unified Threat Management Appliance Earns Certification From The Tolly Group
Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced Symantec Gateway Security 3.0 has achieved “Up to Spec†certification by The Tolly Group, a third-party information technology testing, research, and certification organization. Engineers from The Tolly Group evaluated Symantec Gateway Security version 3.0 software running on a Symantec Gateway Security 5660 appliance, based on its ability to identify and block network attacks common to enterprise networks.
To test its proactive protection capability, The Tolly Group subjected Symantec Gateway Security 3.0 to an extensive barrage of more than 200 single and blended threats from several areas including, but not limited to, e-mail and SQLnet. According to the certification, “the Symantec Gateway Security appliance accurately detected and blocked 100 percent of more than 200 network attacks launched against it, and properly detected all suspicious activity, security risks, and audit events it encountered.â€
“The Symantec Gateway Security appliance detected and blocked everything we threw at it,†said Kevin Tolly, president, CEO, and founder of The Tolly Group. “It is important for a security appliance to demonstrate the highest possible attack blockage rate.â€
