Industry Veteran Spearheads “Valued Today, Essential Tomorrow” Strategy to Extend CA’s Global Leadership in High-End Systems Management

CA (NASDAQ:CA) today named Chris O’Malley executive vice president and general manager of its Mainframe Business Unit, reporting to CA CEO John Swainson.

O’Malley will lead the company’s “Valued Today, Essential Tomorrow” strategy, which will extend CA’s global leadership in high-end systems management. His responsibilities include strategic planning and execution oversight for worldwide technology development, marketing, sales, service, and customer experience for the mainframe area. O’Malley will also serve on CA’s Executive Leadership Team.

“In today’s ultra-demanding business computing environment, the unique attributes of the mainframe make it a more compelling platform for hosting critical applications than ever before,” said Swainson. “The mainframe has always been an important platform for CA, and Chris O’Malley has demonstrated that he has the vision and leadership abilities necessary to ensure that CA and its customers benefit fully from the mainframe renaissance.”

O’Malley, 45, was appointed senior vice president and general manager of the Mainframe Business Unit when it was formed in 2007. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of sales strategy and execution and senior vice president of sales responsible for the Midwest and Canada for CA. He joined CA when it acquired Applied Data Research in 1988.

O’Malley graduated from the University of Minnesota with honors with a bachelor of science degree in computer science. He is the founder of the O’Malley Foundation, a non-profit organization that awards scholarships to college students in need, and supports fine arts programs.

“CA has already seen significant results from the formation of the Mainframe Business Unit just one year ago,” said O’Malley. “Corporate IT organizations are becoming increasingly dependent on their mainframes to provide highly reliable, scalable, and secure services to the business in the most cost- and energy-efficient manner. CA is responding to this growing mainframe dependence by delivering software solutions that enable IT organizations to optimize the technical and economic performance of their mainframe resources. We continue to see significant opportunities in this market.”
