Intelli-Check – Mobilisa, Inc. (AMEX: IDN), a leader in identity and wireless systems, now protects the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Complex with its patented identity card technology.
The Defense ID system will allow the VA’s security guards to scan identification cards from patients, visitors, contractors, delivery personnel and employees, including driver’s licenses, and check over 100 databases for persons of interest. The system will also alert guards if security situations occur at the facility, provides a visitors log to the security center, and can provide multiple levels of controlled access within the hospital.
According to the Office of Policy and Planning National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics there are 153 VA medical centers and 732 community-based outpatient clinics with a total of 7.8 million enrollees in 2007. In the 2008 Fiscal Year, the VA was awarded $90 billion in appropriations. The Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Complex purchased handheld security scanners, along with associated accessories, training and installation, for nearly $100,000.
This is the first VA hospital to implement the security system. “We are excited our system will enhance security at the Philadelphia VA hospital,” said Intelli-Check – Mobilisa CEO Nelson Ludlow, Ph.D. “It is our honor to help serve and protect our veterans.”
