Islamabad Telco Expands Teradata Warehouse

One of Pakistan’s leading GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) service providers, Ufone, has signed an agreement to expand its current data warehouse with state-of-the-art 5550H nodes from Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the global leader in enterprise data warehousing.

The Teradata 5550 provides up to two times the system performance over its predecessors and is specifically designed to provide active data warehousing and real-time business intelligence. An active data warehouse enables better decision-making throughout the organization by providing information about the current status of business or customer activities. The expansion of the data warehouse system will enable Ufone to have a more comprehensive set of analytics that can be used to provide high quality services and offer additional value added services and packages catering to the needs of it customers.

At a contract signing ceremony in Islamabad on May 15, Abdul Aziz, president and chief executive officer of Ufone, said, “This agreement is yet another attestation of our commitment to provide state of the art solutions. We continue upgrading our systems in order to keep up with our promise of giving the best possible service to our valued customers.” Aziz also added that as the leading telecom player in Pakistan, Ufone will continue to bring to the market technology that supports the company’s vision for an efficient and effective infrastructure.
