FirstFlight, Inc. (OTC BB: FFLT) a charter management and aviation services company, announced today that aviation industry executive Richard Hodkinson is joining the Company as President of its newly formed West Coast Division. Hodkinson brings 30 years of aviation experience and an impressive track record of previous success to the position.
The west coast is one of FirstFlight’s primary target markets for expansion and opening a new facility in Van Nuys, CA, is a major step in executing the Company’s strategic plan. According to FirstFlight President and CEO John Dow, “Richard’s decision to join FirstFlight is a major milestone for our company and our growth initiatives. He is a nationally known industry leader and has a strong record of success in our business. For a number of years, we have considered developing a west coast presence and with recent changes in the industry, we believe it’s the right time to develop this market. Richard is the perfect choice to lead this effort.”
In 1994 Hodkinson founded Elite Aviation, headquartered in Van Nuys CA, where he served as the CEO/COO. In June 2004, he sold the business, remaining as President/COO through June of 2006. During his tenure at Elite, the company assembled a fleet of 24 jets operating worldwide. Hodkinson built an impressive team that earned an excellent reputation in the aircraft charter and management business.
Regarding his new appointment, Hodkinson commented: “I’ve known John Dow as a professional competitor and friend for many years; I have a great deal of respect for him and the FirstFlight organization. I have made an investment in FirstFlight and they have invested in me. We are going to develop a west coast operation that delivers the quality and personal service that FirstFlight customers enjoy on the east coast, the kind of service I believe customers are also seeking on the west coast. I believe there is a strong demand for the kind of ‘boutique’ service that FirstFlight is known for and we can build on our reputation as leaders providing expertise and personalized service across the US as well as internationally. It’s gonna be great!”
Prior to Elite Aviation, Hodkinson was a manager for other charter companies and flight departments. Before making the step into management, Hodkinson was a corporate pilot, accumulating approximately 14,000 hours of accident/incident-free flying hours.
“FirstFlight is the perfect fit for me to resume my activities in the industry,” offered Mr. Hodkinson. “John Dow and the FirstFlight management team have created a great platform for growth and I believe my contribution to the next stage of development will be meaningful. My mission is to build a fleet of managed aircraft on the west coast that will complement the outstanding fleet FirstFlight has developed along the eastern seaboard.”
