AMD Names Bruce Gieseke Corporate Fellow

AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the appointment of Bruce Gieseke to the position of Corporate Fellow, the highest technical recognition at AMD. Gieseke and his teams were instrumental in the creation of AMD’s advanced Direct Connect Architecture, which provides increased data flow within AMD chips, and is therefore a preferred architecture for multi-core computing. Thanks in large part to this architectural leadership, AMD Opteron™ and Athlon™ 64 processors can give customers unequalled levels of performance-per-watt. This is a rapidly increasing priority for enterprise IT directors looking to effectively achieve their compute-intensive application priorities, while at the same time helping keep energy and cooling costs in check.

As a Corporate Fellow, Gieseke now leads a team of over 200 design engineers worldwide in the development of new architectural innovations aimed at achieving even greater levels of performance, power-efficiency and functionality in AMD’s next-generation chips.

“We believe our competitive advantage is a direct result of the caliber of our people,” said Jeff VerHeul, Corporate Vice President, Silicon Design Engineering, Microprocessor Solutions Sector (MSS). “Bruce’s talent and passion for design innovation has put him among the best of the best in our industry. At AMD, we are committed to growing and nurturing the finest engineering talent in the world. That’s why we are gaining ground in the marketplace like never before.”
