Sun Microsystems Announces Formation of Emerging Markets Sales Region to Drive Accelerated Growth

Announces Change In India Leadership

· Anil Valluri named new GEM VP and Managing Director for Sun India

· Bhaskar Pramanik takes on a new global role

New Delhi – July 11,2008 – Sun Microsystems announced the formation of a new Emerging Markets sales geography to drive accelerated expansion and sales coverage across growing markets in South and Eastern Europe, Latin America, India and Greater China. The new Emerging Markets region will be led by Denis Heraud, Sun’s senior vice president of Asia Pacific. Heraud will take on an expanded charter to lead the united Emerging Markets territory. As part of Sun’s most recent third quarter fiscal 2008 results, the company reported impressive growth in emerging markets including 20% year-over-year growth in Brazil, 30% year-over-year growth in India and 18% growth in the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe region.

In conjunction with the formation of the Emerging Markets region, Sun also announced a series of organizational leadership changes to accommodate the new sales geographic coverage model within and outside India. Effective July 1, 2008 – the beginning of the company’s fiscal year 2009 – Sun Microsystems announced the promotion of Anil Valluri, to the role of GEM(Geographically Established Market) Vice President & Managing Director India. This announcement follows the promotion of Bhaskar Pramanik, President, India GEM Sun Microsystems to VP Global Volume Business, based out of Sun Microsystems corporate headquarters at Menlo Park. Bhaskar’s new role will focus on building and growing Sun’s volume business across the world.

Bhaskar Pramanik has been the face of Sun since its entry into India way back in 1997. Under his able leadership and direction, Sun India has not only built its reputation as one of the most respected and successful technology companies in the country but is also one of the key geographies for Sun Microsystems Inc. Bhaskar is also a respected thought leader in the Indian IT industry having been involved with the Indian IT industry since 1982.

Anil Valluri has been with Sun Microsystems India for over nine years now. He joined in 1999 to build and lead the Systems Engineering function for India, following more than a decade spent at DCM Data Products and DEC. Since then, he has covered many different functions, including leading the Client Services Organization and Services Practice for the India GEM.
