StreetSmarts, a weekly interview program hosted by www.onn.tv, interviewed Denise Shull, founder of TraderPsyches, in a special segment found only on The Options News Network.

In this exclusive StreetSmarts conversation about trading psychology, Denise Shull, founder of TraderPsyches.com, discusses her unique approach to helping traders understand and use their emotions to improve their results. Shull completed graduate studies in neuroscience at the University of Chicago while she was actively trading her own capital. The synergies between her research and her trading led to multiple insights about how traders can learn to integrate their “psychological capital” with their trading methods.

Shull believes that most common wisdom about trading tends to over emphasize the need to “control emotions.” As she points out in the interview, the problem is that since humans are still emotional creatures, our brains are hard-wired to respond firstly with emotion to everything around us, milliseconds before any conscious thought occurs. She also explains how traders can use a very simple understanding of the “feeling-thought-action” chain to effect changes in their trading behavior. As Shull explains, “Elevating the role of Psychological CapitalTM, which includes leveraging emotional awareness, is actually the ultimate risk management tool.” View the entire interview at:
