Partnering to grow mobile Web browsing in Europe: debitel offers Opera’s full mobile product portfolio
debitel and Opera Software today announced a long-term partnership to grow the market for mobile Web browsing in Europe. As Europe’s largest network-independent telecommunications service provider, third largest mobile phone service provider and market leader among value-added service providers in Germany, debitel will utilize Opera’s full mobile product portfolio consisting of Opera Mobileâ„¢, Opera Miniâ„¢ and Opera Platformâ„¢, to deliver mobile Web access and Web applications to its customers.
This year, the two companies plan to launch customized Opera mobile browsers across debitel’s device portfolio, providing subscribers with full access to their favorite sites, e-mail and other Web-based services. Customized versions of Opera will be pre-installed on debitel handsets or can be downloaded directly by the end-user.
“Our partnership with Opera enables our customers do a lot more with their phones than they can today,” says Martin Witt, head of product management, debitel. “Internet surfing from mobile devices is increasingly popular and with Opera’s powerful mobile products we can offer Web access on our entire device portfolio ranging from advanced smartphones to the most popular feature phones”.
