Noted Russian Entrepreneur Hosts Online Contest Where the Prize is Deciding Which Tattoo He Should Receive on His Arm

Tattoolizator.com (www.tattoolizator.com) offers a novel new tattoo design contest in which the top prize is space on the right arm of a Russian millionaire. Egor Lavrov is running the online contest, which will culminate next year with him filming himself getting the tattoo design receiving the most votes. Voters both submit their ideas and vote for their favorites and are eligible to win cash prizes.

Each vote costs $1, designed so anyone can participate in the online contest, but robots cannot. One lucky voter will receive 25 percent of the total amount generated through the online contest – with a minimum guaranteed prize of $16,000. At least 25 percent of the total raised is destined for charity, with a minimum guaranteed donation of at least $16,000. One lucky person each month is eligible to receive 1 percent of the total, or at least $100.

Lavrov is a new generation Russian millionaire. He made his fortune with various Internet companies and through political PR. Now residing in the Dominican Republic, his Grupo Lavroff is involved in such wide ranging areas as construction, financial advising, advertising and PR. His company is also the authorized Latin American distributor for luxury brands like Apple and Bang and Olufsen. He owns one of the hottest restaurants in Santo Domingo, Pravda Sushi Bar and Lounge.

He’s not just a successful businessman, however. Lavrov’s wealth, and his propensity to blog about it, has made him a leading luxury life figure. Both he and his wife, Dominican model Lourdes Espinal, have written extensively about their purchases, making them cult figures, especially to a new group of rich young Russians defined by their conspicuous consumption as well as their open disdain for poverty.

Tattolizator.com’s online contest in tattoo design is a perfect exercise in Web 2.0 democracy. Artists can use any social networking Web site, like Facebook, MySpace or dig, to promote their tattoo design. Lavrov will get whatever tattoo design receives the most votes in the online contest, regardless of how it looks or what it says. He will use eBay to auction off the privilege of applying the tattoo to any tattoo studio in the world. He will post the film chronicling him getting the tattoo on YouTube.

Lavrov will also pick the best artist, regardless of whether their tattoo design wins the online contest, and help them apply their talent through design work.
