Northwest Airlines (NYSE:NWA) has enhanced nwa.com check-in to allow customers to better manage their itineraries and pre-pay charges for checked luggage.

While checking in online, Northwest customers traveling in the U.S. may select the number of bags they intend to check and pre-pay any applicable luggage fees with a credit card. Changes to the number of pre-selected bags will be allowed at an airport self-service check-in kiosk. Luggage charges will not be applied until luggage tags are printed at the airport.

“Northwest Airlines is always looking for ways to make traveling easier for our customers before they even leave their homes,” said Al Lenza, vice president distribution and e-commerce. “The new features on nwa.com are designed to further speed up the check-in process and improve the customer experience on Northwest.”

Northwest Airlines began charging $25 for the second piece of domestic checked luggage in May. Beginning August 28, Northwest will begin charging a $15 fee for the first piece of checked luggage. These fees can be pre-paid using nwa.com check-in within 24-hours prior to departure.

Customers may also use nwa.com check-in to upgrade to First or World Business Class, change flights or standby for a different flight, select or change seats and more. Visit www.nwa.com for more information.
