Ed Hammersla to Discuss Best Practices for Locking Down Linux Operating Systems
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo
Booth #1407
Trusted Computer Solutions (TCS), a developer of security applications that run on the Linux Operating System, today announced that Chief Operating Officer Edward Hammersla will speak at the upcoming LinuxWorld 2008 Conference & Expo. Mr. Hammersla’s session, “The System Administrator Security Challenge”, will address linux lock down and operating system (OS) security and will take place on Wednesday, August 6 from 11.30 – 12.30.
According to a Forrester report on hardening Linux systems, twenty-four percent of system administrators are using an ad hoc process to harden servers, and thirty percent are manually scripting security policies. Many system administrators still do not have the experience in locking down the machines as it is time consuming and difficult. System hardening can vary from one OS to another. Since operating systems are not shipped with secure default configurations, as they are difficult to install, it requires system lock down to be done after the installation of the OS.
Mr. Hammersla will discuss the lock down dilemma and best practices for locking down Linux in a variety of OS environments, as well as basic system-hardening techniques.
