Tech Company Brings Web 2.0 to Mobile Devices
SAN JOSE, Calif. - July 31, 2008 - Macrospecs, Inc., a company specializing in the development of software and web solutions on the mobile platform, launches a new innovative news service, bringing together the two worlds of social content and the mobile web. NewsNomad.com displays the most popular news stories of the day, as determined by its users.
NewsNomad was designed to provide mobile users with as much convenience as possible. It fits virtually every screen size. It doesn’t require registration to use. The simple and clean interface not only provides quick loading times, but also allows for good screen readability on mobile devices.
Further ensuring speed and usability, every news story comes from websites suited for mobile browsing. NewsNomad takes stories from the mobile versions of major publications including Reuters, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, Time Magazine, etc. The articles are added to the “New Stories” section of NewsNomad daily. Once they receive enough votes from users, they are promoted to the front page. Future plans include support for user-submitted articles.
NewsNomad is the first and only social news services geared entirely toward mobile devices. Despite the existence of mobile interfaces to social news websites such as Digg and Reddit, the majority of their headlines come from websites that mobile browsers cannot properly display. Therefore, users are unable to read the articles themselves using their mobile devices. NewsNomad sidesteps this issue entirely.
