New Delhi, August 1, 2008: Sun Microsystems today announced details for its prestigious annual IT event “Technovate 2008”. The two-day forum exclusively for the CXOs will be held in Mumbai on August 6 and 7, 2008 at Hotel Grand Hyatt. Reiterating Sun’s commitment to developing and delivering energy efficient eco responsible technologies, products and business models, Technovate 2008 will feature the powerful theme of Cycles of Balance Green Technology = Smart Technology to address one of the biggest concerns and challenges which organizations are faced with today- that of preserving the environment.

Incepted in 2007, Sun Technovate is a forum designed specifically to mobilize India’s cutting edge potential and deliver critical success to its technology consumers. As an amalgam of “Technology” and “Innovation”, Sun Technovate is envisaged as the perfect forum for learning about the latest tools, tips, and techniques for accelerating innovation and energizing growth.

The two-day event this year will commence with a keynote address by John Fowler, Executive Vice President, Systems, Sun Microsystems Inc, highlighting the role of eco innovation and ways to reduce environmental footprint in business and will be attended by CxOs (CIOs, CFOs and CEOs) from various industry sectors including telecom, BFSI, retail and manufacturing. Daniel Berg, CTO GSS & VP Emerging Markets – Systems Engineering will present Sun’s eco strategy at the event. Sun Technovate 2008 will also feature exclusive previews and presentations from Sun Microsystems and Sun Partners, which will elaborate specific solutions to address the challenge of reducing the carbon footprint.

The sessions will include discussions and debates on how enterprises must look at sustainable development and not just green IT and enable participants to dive deeper into eco friendly high performing technologies and various aspects of recycling resources employed by the enterprises. The two day forum will feature sessions from eminent speakers from Sun India such as Divyesh Shah, Director – Systems Engineering, Sun Microsystems India, Ashish Khushu, Director – Systems Business, Sun Microsystems India, Sivasankaran Lakshminarayanan, Director, Sun Storage Practice, Manish Malhotra, Director Sun Software Practice, Srivalsan Ponnachat, Director Sun Services Practice and will also have sessions by renowned academia and global business leaders such as Dr. Deepak B Phatak, Prof – IIT Bombay, Mr Sandeep Phanasgaonkar, President & CTO, Reliance Capital Ltd and Varun Singh – CTO, Web 18 among others.

Green Innovation Showcase- Sun Partners will display innovative solutions and technologies to the niche audience of Sun Technovate ’08. It would be a platform for Sun Partners to showcase green IT practices and solutions that deliver smart energy-saving technology to solve the energy and environmental issues customers are facing today.

Green Innovation Awards – The Green awards will recognize and reward organizations who have pledged their positive commitments to the planet and engage in eco-efficient technology to run their business. The uniqueness of this award is that the winners are chosen by the people, and the three categories of nominations are energy efficient datacentre, optimal technology utilization and Technology for a greener workplace.

Panel Discussion- Panel Discussion by eminent speakers who believe that ‘green’ is a movement, a state of mind and the color of new ideas. The discussion will showcase that ecology and economics blend together to create a greener future.
