Finally there is a pod-cast for Mac OSX Widget Developers

(Boston, Mass – March, 19 2006) - An online forum and pod-cast has been released for Mac OSX widget developers. The pod-cast covers topics and gives tutorials about how to properly develop a Dashboard Widget. Widgets are now common lingo among Macintosh OSX users. Basically a widget is a small application that runs in the OSX Dashboard an environment that runs these small applications that we know as Widgets. The widget boom hit with the new release of OSX Tiger and many companies, and designers all over the world jumped at the chance to start creating widgets. Apple boasts “If you can make a website than you can make a widget”. This claim led to a rush of web designers and programmers all over the world to start their hand at widget design and development.

The first few months many widgets hit the scene they offered great services such as helping us schedule our day with to do lists, or see what programs were going to be offered on TV. Other widgets allowed us to check our flights while others helped us keep in touch with loved ones. There were however many widgets released with no implicit design or function. These widgets would soon clutter the screens of Mac OSX users everywhere.

For those of us out there that own a Mac it was frustrating to find interesting widgets after a few months of time. That’s when the pod-cast and forum for widget developers everywhere started. The name of the show is called On The Flip Side with Jon Brown. It’s a positive show that gives designers who wish to make a widget a forum to discuss problems and ask questions about design or functionality. It’s also a place where widgets are examined and reviewed and where widget programmers can offer advice to beginner widget developers.

Jon Brown has just offered that for the first 50 people to visit the site and submit a widget compliant with the rules and regulations in the forum located at (http://podcast.jonbrown.org) will be featured in the upcoming releases of his pod-cast. This is a great way for widget designers out there to publish and promote their work for free with maximum exposure. The pod-cast is also listed in iTunes, which is an easy way to subscribe for free.

Mac OSX Dashboard is an amazing place where we can all use these great widgets and now finally there is a place where people who don’t know how to create one can learn and a place for experienced designers to pass on their knowledge. This pod-cast hopes to eliminate poorly designed and functionless widgets world wide. If you love widgets than Jon Brown will keep you hooked.
