Motorola Announces General Availability of Its MOTOMESHâ„¢ Multi-Radio Broadband Solution for City-wide Wireless Connectivity

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced the general availability of MOTOMESH™, a multi-radio mesh networking broadband solution that supports up to four radio networks in a single access point, applicable for public works, public users and public safety agencies in Asia Pacific under the Public Protection (Safety) and Disaster Relief/Response (PPDR) scheme. The PPDR initiative is part of the ITU’s (International Telecommunication Union) effort to standardise the use of 4.9GHz public safety band across the region for PPDR operations.

MOTOMESH will be showcased next week at the Government Security Asia Summit (GOVSEC Asia Summit 2006) in Hong Kong on March 28 – 29, 2006. Over 100 high-level regional government security officials, law enforcers and first response professionals will witness Motorola’s suite of rapid deployable communications and integrated homeland security solutions that will help address interoperability issues and critical communications needs in emergency preparedness, law enforcement as well as in urban transportation security.

“The availability of MOTOMESH adds to the already expanding portfolio of Motorola’s Seamless Mobility solutions. This is one of the first multi-radio mobile broadband solutions to combine the unlicensed Wi-Fi band (2.4GHz) and the licensed public safety band (4.9 GHz) on a single access point; giving simultaneous secure wireless access to diverse communities such as the public works and public Wi-Fi users without compromising the broadband connections amongst public safety users,” said James Wong, senior manager, business development, Motorola Government & Enterprise Mobility Solutions.
