Symantec Lauded by VARBusiness for Channel Leadership and Innovation

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that CMP’s VARBusiness and GovernmentVAR magazines have both selected Symantec as one of North America’s top information-technology (IT) vendors for leadership and innovation across the company’s overall and government channel partner programs. VARBusiness has recognized the Symantec Partner Program with a Five-Star rating — the highest rating a vendor can earn — for the fifth consecutive year. And in the inaugural year for its award, GovernmentVAR has also awarded Symantec’s Government Partner Program with a Five-Star rating. “We applaud vendors like Symantec for demonstrating best practices and for the leadership roles they have achieved within the IT distribution channel,” says VARBusiness and GovernmentVAR Editor Lawrence M. Walsh.

To determine the most robust vendor partner programs and those deserving of a Five-Star rating, VARBusiness and GovernmentVAR invited IT vendors to submit descriptions of both their overall and government channel partner programs during 2005. After collecting hundreds of data points from IT vendors across every market segment, editors from VARBusiness and GovernmentVAR examined key metrics that included channel leadership with each company, percentage of revenue derived from partners, investments in channel programs, communications with partners, velocity of sales through partners, and innovation. The vendors that excelled in the key metrics received the Five-Star rating.
