Janney Continues Growth with Addition of New CIO

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC (“Janney”), a leading full-service wealth management, financial services and investment banking firm headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, announced today the appointment of Robert J. Thielmann to the role of chief information officer (CIO), senior vice president, and member of the firm’s management committee. Bob will lead Janney’s information technology organization that manages critical systems supporting the company’s private client and capital markets groups, investment banking, compliance and operations efforts, as well as enterprise systems and applications for all corporate processes.

A respected industry veteran, Bob brings more than 20 years of progressive leadership and a wealth of experience in running global IT operations for financial organizations. Most recently, Bob served as senior vice president and divisional chief information officer at AIG, with technology responsibility for all broker-dealer and mutual fund services. During his time at AIG, Bob led the company through multiple strategic initiatives addressing compliance deficiencies, creating new advisor products and managed account offerings, and bolstering infrastructure, controls, and resourcing in conjunction with growth in the business. Before joining AIG, Bob served as a Director of eCommerce development at Pershing, a division of Bank of New York Mellon.

Bob received his Master of Business Administration from the Rutgers Graduate School of Management and Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois. He holds industry securities licenses 7, 24, and 63. He is currently a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Technology Advisory Board and member of the Financial Securities Institute (FSI). He is a past Executive Board member for the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Data Management Division, and past Chair for both the SIFMA Data Management Division Information Technology and Portfolio committees.

Bob and his family reside in Somerset, New Jersey.
