At The Carphone Warehouse it really does…
The Carphone Warehouse has today announced that it will be offering the ground-breaking Nokia Comes With Music service exclusively on Pay As You Go, with a range of exclusive Nokia 5310 XpressMusic handsets this autumn. This unique service is set to revolutionise the music industry, allowing music lovers nationwide a year’s free unlimited access to millions of tracks from the entire Nokia Music Store catalogue. Songs from a range of great artists – past, present and future – will be offered to subscribers for a one-off cost and to make the service even more attractive, the downloaded tracks can be kept on your handset or PC forever – for no additional fee.
The Nokia 5310 will be available with the unique Comes With Music service for a one-off cost exclusively from over 805 Carphone Warehouse stores and online at www.carphonewarehouse.com. Furthermore, the handset will also be available with eight colour variants, exclusively at The Carphone Warehouse, ensuring that all customers are catered for.
A collaboration with Universal Music Group International and Sony BMG Entertainment will give consumers instant access to a diverse array of international artists’ material, from Iron Maiden to Hot Chip. This exceptional offering enables users to access over two million tracks from the extensive Nokia Music Store catalogue. Songs can be simply downloaded to either a PC or mobile phone, meaning music lovers nationwide will never be stuck without something new to listen to.
Once the year is complete, customers can keep all of their music, without having to worry about it disappearing when their subscription is over. There is also a number of attractive options to continue downloading new music: users will be able to continue to purchase additional tracks from the Nokia Music Store, or move on to a Nokia ‘unlimited access’ subscription service to enjoy new releases and catalogue tracks not downloaded during the initial year.
Andrew Harrison, UK CEO of The Carphone Warehouse said: “Nokia Comes with Music is one of the most compelling digital music offerings ever introduced and we expect it to be the gift for Christmas 2008. It is a fantastic service that brings music lovers unlimited access to a huge catalogue of songs that are theirs to keep forever. We know how much our customers love music and we hope to make ‘music millionaires’ of people everywhere thanks to the vast number of songs that ‘Comes With Music’ has to offer.”

Notes to editors:
* Nokia Comes With Music (CWM) launches in the autumn, on a pre-pay basis on the Nokia 5310 White, exclusively in The Carphone Warehouse stores nationwide and on www.carphonewarehouse.com
* The Nokia 5310 will be available with eight colour variants: White with Silver, Blue, Pink, Orange or Green and Black with Pink, Red or Blue.
* The main added features to the Nokia Music Store to support Nokia Comes With Music are:
o No additional charge for content is made per download – the music is “free” at the point of download and no prices are displayed to CWM users. End user would still be responsible for any data charges involved
o The user has to register their PC and their CWM device to their account before any content can be downloaded and content can then only be downloaded / synchronised between the two devices registered to the account at any one time. The user can only be logged into one device at the time
o At the time of launch downloading of the tracks is not restricted unless usage is not considered to be for personal usage or user is using any unsupported applications or connection methods. If average usage for all users reached predefined levels Nokia is allowed to restrict number of downloads for individual users
o Existing users can add CWM to their current Nokia Music account if they buy a CWM device after initial registration
o If the user buys a new PC during the initial 12 month term they can transfer their CWM collection to it (once in three months)
o At the end of the initial 12 months term the user can keep the music on their original device and PC. And if they buy a new compatible (i.e. Nokia) device or a new PC they can re-download or synchronise all of the content they have downloaded under their CWM subscription. The user is able to change registered mobile device or PC every three months for a further two years post termination
o After two years post termination (after three years from beginning of the subscription) users will be able to keep the content on their current device/PC BUT will no longer be able to re-download it from the service
