Sun Country Airlines announced today a new baggage fee policy that adds a $12 charge for the first checked piece but also simplifies other charges and their collection. The first bag fee will be assessed on all Coach Cabin Sun Country domestic and international tickets purchased after September 5, 2008, for travel on or after October 1, 2008. All Coach Cabin tickets purchased before September 5, 2008 and all First Class tickets will not be assessed the $12 fee.

Fees for excess baggage have been simplified and only one fee will apply to each bag. Effective September 5, for travel on or after October 1, three or more checked bags, as well as all overweight and oversized bags, will be subject to a $75 fee each. The second bag fee will remain at $25. Passengers will have the option of prepaying for their return trip baggage fees at their original check-in if they prefer.
