Intelligent Decisions to Present at USPTO IT Security Day

Presentation will Outline Cyber Security’s Emerging Best Practices

Intelligent Decisions, Inc.(ID), a leading provider of innovative IT hardware, software, manufacturing and professional service solutions to Federal, State and Local governments and Fortune 1000 customers, announced today that Roy Stephan, ID’s Director of IT Architecture & Engineering Services, will present at the US Patent and Trademark IT Security Day being held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. He is one of only four industry speakers that will be presenting at this event.

The underlying theme of this Federal Business Council, Inc. (FBC) event is Information Assurance. Stephan will present an overview of emerging best practices in government cyberspace. His presentation will move through a series of next generation technologies with an overview of where the technology originated, the market drivers (including OMB Mandates, Congressional Acts, and Market Forces) and a brief market analysis for each of the following technologies:
Network Access Control
Two Factor Authentication
Data Encryption (At rest, in motion and in use)
Code Scanning
Botnet Detection & Prevention

Roy Stephan, CISSP, is a 12-year veteran of the information technology and network security field. In his role as Director of IT Architecture & Engineering Services, he is responsible for working with high-end government customers faced with some of the greatest security challenges seen anywhere in the world and for maintaining market vigilance for emerging trends, techniques, tools and best practices. During his tenure at Intelligent Decisions, Mr. Stephan has been instrumental in the development of the company’s cyber security practice, working closely with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) among others to design solutions for protecting networks, (Personally Identifiable Information) PII protection, and advanced training solutions.

Prior to joining Intelligent Decisions, Mr. Stephan built and launched several Internet technology and information security companies, and serving as chief technology officer and in senior management roles for eSolstice, EduRX, Hits4Free, Co-Develop and Tovaris (now Global Certs). Mr. Stephan received a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
