Employers of those nearing retirement can point toward special section of securepathbytransamerica.com for help

SecurePathSM by Transamerica, a service of Transamerica Retirement Management, Inc., has unveiled a special “Second Careers” section of its web site designed to help pre-retirees, and the employers entrusted with aiding in their retirement transition, plan for the type of retirement that best suits them.

This resource-intense portion of www.securepathbytransamerica.com contains information ranging from suggested reading to recommended career and volunteer site links and exclusive editorial content.

Pre-retirees can use this portion of the site to help determine if they are ready for retirement by taking a Retirement Readiness Quiz. The eight-question personality quiz will indicate whether the quiz-taker is “not ready yet,” “not quite ready,” “reasonably ready,” or “ready!”

“The ‘what are you going to do in retirement’ conversation has changed a great deal in the past 10 years,” said Will Prest, chief marketing officer of SecurePath by Transamerica. “The opportunities for boomers to engage in a second career or a phased retirement or to donate time to a favorite cause are becoming more and more prevalent, and boomers are finding ever-more eclectic ways to find fulfillment in the ‘third age.’ The information we’ve provided on our new second careers section is meant to help pre-retirees decide what type of retirement might most appeal to them.”

Amidst the new content is a list of book summaries containing great titles on key topics concerning ways to ease into the change that retirement brings and how to get the most out of the next phase of life. Also included is a video library and columns by featured authors, including Kathryn Hanson, a former area director for the Social Security Administration who retired at 55 and is currently enjoying her own second career as Senior Web Editor for SecurePath by Transamerica.

The addition of second-careers content is part of an ongoing initiative by SecurePath by Transamerica to contribute meaningful and helpful information that will help pre-retirees make informed and healthy decisions as they consider this critical transition. Earlier this year, SecurePath by Transamerica unveiled sections on Social Security and transitioning into retirement. The company also plans to add content dedicated to providing information about health and wellness and housing, as they pertain to retirement.
