Motorola Biometrics Solution Will Help Protect Delaware Citizens with Improved Identity Technology

Motorola , Inc. (NYSE: MOT) has been awarded a contract by the Delaware State Police to deploy Motorola’s latest generation multi-biometric identification system, the Motorola Printrak Biometric Identification Solution (Printrak BIS). This system will be used for both civil employment background checks and criminal identification and will provide law enforcement personnel with enhanced identification capabilities and greater crime solving tools.

“We chose Motorola because in addition to exceeding our technical requirements, they employ structured, repeatable systems engineering discipline that can be called on now and in the future to deliver upgrades,” said Captain Galen Purcell from Delaware State Police. “The Motorola solution will provide for a full system for fingerprints, palmprints and mugshots for Delaware and its agencies in the fight against crime and terrorism”.

The Motorola Printrak BIS is an integrated biometrics system that stores a variety of information including: fingerprints, palmprints, iris prints, facial images, signatures metrics, and descriptive information of the person fur use in areas such as job applications, e-passport and criminal investigation reports. The system can be set to automate information processing (lights out), which help to lower operating costs and reduce resources needed for operation.
