Vertex, a leading international business process outsourcer and IT services company, has announced the appointment of Richard Huntley who will take on the new role of Vice President and practice lead for energy efficiency and demand side management.

Richard has a wealth of knowledge and experience having spent over 25 years working within technology and customer care in the utilities and telecommunications industries. In his new role, Richard will be responsible for creating the company’s footprint and value propositions as Vertex partners and builds assets to firmly establish a position that adds energy efficiency and demand management to its customer service portfolio.

Most recently he was Vice President of Aclara Software (formerly Nexus), a pioneer in providing solutions that address the natural intersection of customer care and efficiency. Prior to this he was Vice President at SPL World Group, now part of Oracle Corporation, a leading customer information vendor. Early on in his career, Richard has held senior level positions at Spectrum Signal Processing and Nynex Information Services (now Verizon).

Richard’s appointment comes at an exciting time as the utilities industry is transforming through innovation around energy efficiency, better management of demand and utilization of renewable supply sources. Today, approximately 50% of the world’s greenhouse gases come from the burning of fossil fuels to produce electricity.

Commenting on his new appointment, Richard said, “Many utilities globally are implementing technology and programs to address how their customers manage the energy uses. A variety of technologies are being deployed and applied to this problem including smart meters, innovative pricing programs, and customer communications tools. As a result, the customer relationship model is changing. Vertex is ahead of the curve in this respect and I am very looking forward to making a real impact in my new role.”

Ron Aberman, Vertex’s Executive Vice President for Business Development concluded, “We are delighted that Rich has joined our senior management team in North America. He has worked across four continents to help address resource efficiency, demand response and customer service. We will relish the opportunity of utilizing his knowledge and skills in helping to drive our future growth and efficiency plans in the North America utilities business.”
