Proton, India’s Mahindra In Talks
KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)–Malaysian Proton Holdings Bhd. (5304.KU) and India’s Mahindra & Mahindra are in talks about a possible manufacturing and marketing alliance, India’s Business Standard reported Saturday.
Quoting unnamed industry sources, the newspaper said Mahindra & Mahindra may also take a stake in the Malaysian company, which is 43% owned by Khazanah Nasional, the state investment company.
The deal could mean M&M models like the Scorpio and the Bolero could be made in Malaysia using Proton’s existing plants, the newspaper said.
